The UK Telegraph just reported that the European Union is under pressure to enforce equality rules on airlines. It appears that it’s not just Jetstar that is discriminating against passengers with disabilities. It is enough of a problem in Europe that a complaint was lodged by Shuaib Chalklen – a wheelchair user who happens to be a United Nations Disability Rights Monitor.
Just a couple days after we heard that Jetstar had refused passage to two wheelchair users because they didn’t have “carers”, we learn that Jetstar refused to carry 6 out of 8 wheelchair using paralympians.
The parking lot at the Rouyn campus of the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue is not wheelchair friendly. This issue is only one of many physical accessibility barriers at the university. I understand that there are students who have been battling the university for at least 3 years, asking them to resolve the issues. So far, they have gotten nowhere.
